Bio-waste pilot program

The Municipality of Kalamata in cooperation with FΟDSA of Peloponnese, always having as its primary objective to improve life quality of the citizens, will implement a innovative pilot action for the of recycling bio-waste by using biowaste bins in combination with a set of supplementary services. The bio-waste bins thanks to the bio-filter, neutralize odors, eliminate the presence of insects and reduce frequency of collection.

The importance of recycling organic waste is necessary, given that on average 40-45% of the waste of each household is bio-waste.

The immediate objectives of the pilot program are:
20% recycling and 70% bio-waste purity.
2 Tons by Reduction of CH4 (methane) emissions.
25 Tons by Diversion from Bio-waste burial.
